snow day (part 2)

I feel like we were out playing as the sun rose Thursday.  But I think it was just overcast.

The kids favorite part of the day was that Chris didn’t have to to go work Thursday.  It was a snow day for him too!

Mimi and Poppy soon joined in on the fun.  The kids love having them to along to sled and play on snow days!!!

And Mimi is an expert snowman builder!  The biggest snowman we’ve ever had!!! (But he melted before Thursday evening!)

After we finished playing at home.  We headed over to Jake & Reid’s house (can we say we LOVE having our cousins in the neighborhood!!!!)

We did some tubing with them.  Played with their neighbors (aka Will’s friends from school) and got worn out on the walk home.

Now we are praying the kids can have a full week at school starting Monday.  Momma needs a few days to catch her breath, and attempt some laundry!

snow day 2 (part1)

In the last 2 weeks the little kids have not had school.  And Will has only had 1.5 days!  All due to the threat of snow/ice.  Of course it snowed a bit last Friday night, but it was gone quickly.  It happened again Wednesday night, and was quickly gone (from the streets) Thursday.  We did end up with about 6 inches Wed night!

This wasn’t exactly sledding snow, but it was snowman/snowball snow.  Wed night we spent almost 2 hours having a snowball fight.  The kids thought it was great fun!

Thursday we used our hill to sled over and over again.  And this year, Wyatt LOVED it.  Last year, not so much.

it’s back!

We’re at 5+ inches and a few hours to go.  Before bed we had an hour long snowball fight.  Wyatt has impecable dodging skills.  Ella has amazing snowball gathering skills.  And Will is a fierce competitor! Very few pictures since I was the main target.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
*Out of 8 school days, Will has only been 1.5 days.  Cabin Fever is a real thing!

it finally snowed!

Friday night, after dinner, it {finally} started snowing.  Like real snow.  And it kept coming down and coming down.  Realizing we needed to capitalize on the snow while it lasted, we bundled up the kids and headed out.  Sledding until 10pm!

2015-02-20 real snow day (25)

Saturday morning the snow was still out, but now it was icy.  And the sleet/rain was heading in soon.  Ella was begging to head back out.  So at 8am they bundled up and played before the rain came in.  By 8:45 it was raining and the fun was over.

But Wyatt and Ella got alot more sledding in and had a blast.  So glad the snow was finally big enough for the kids to remember it actually happened….and that they took 5 days off of school for something. SONY DSC

**Wilson is missing from the Sat morning pics b/c he said putting on all those clothes weren’t worth it.  HE did have plenty of fun on Friday night….but it was too dark for pics.

Snow Days {with no snow}

We are on day 3 or 4 of {NO} snow days. We’ve lost count.  {Yes, our schools have been closed due to single digit temps.  And the *threat* of snow/ice.} And cabin fever has definitely set in! Despite there being no snow.  Our brief snow storm lasted all of 5 minutes and then the sun came out.  But we donned our snow gear anyway and headed out to play.  We stayed out as long as we could last in the bitter cold and headed back inside to thaw out.  But how many more days at home will we have?!!!!

CNY, part 1

2015-02 CNY

The Lunar New Year is upon us.  We have decorated.  Read LOTS of books.  And watched a few special episodes featuring our fave characters celebrating.   It also helps that we’ve had a few days off of school and plenty of time to fill :)

First up, dragon puppets.  I found these easy pintables here.

The boys really enjoyed them.  And Ella was very proud everyone was participating in “her” craft.

sweet day celebration!

Wyatt and Ella were excited to celebrate Valentine's at school.  They painstakingly chose how to decorate their mailboxes.  Wyatt settled on an Angry Bird Storm Trooper.  And Ella picked a blue Angry Bird.  Both classes celebrated with ice cream parties.  And exchanged Valentine’s with their friends and teachers.  A perfectly sweet day!

Pink. It’s beautiful.

Wyatt is full of funnies these days. "I do not like pink but it's beautiful to my eyes. But DO NOT give me anything with pink on it. Okay?!"

This was in response to Ella announcing she no longer likes pink (!!!!). I asked Wy again how it makes his eyes feel and he once again it’s beautiful to his eyes.  But only to his eyes.

*And this was his Darth face.  He said this is how he stands and looks.  I’m not the most educated SW fan but I’m pretty sure he never smiles.

a reader of another sort

Wyatt is obsessed with Legos.  He wants every type of set. And he loves instruction booklets as much as he loves building the sets.

He loves them so much that they have recently become his night-time reading material.  There are no words on the page, so he likes you to discuss the pages with him. Chris has gone so far as to make up stories about the pieces and figures.

This night he chose “construction site” and “bad guys” as his reading choices.

I love this creative reader!

who needs normal?

Mister Wilson is TOTALLY into the Magic Treehouse book series.  Add to the fact that we can check out the e-books from the library and read them on a tablet and he’s really hooked!

He managed to get hurt, while reading….which is a different story, so he was up on the counter getting fixed up and I turned my back for a moment and came back to this guy perched and reading.  And he stayed that way for 30 more pages.

I prayed for a child who loved to read, looks like I got my request.
