the rest of the Christmas excitement

The other highlights of Christmas Day include a selfie stick!  Wyatt losing his first tooth!
And a crazy wind, rain, thunder storm that took out two trees (thankfully no damage to our house). It was an interesting, and unusual, Christmas day.

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus....

Everyone must have been good this year, because Santa definitely stopped by our house on Christmas.

We started out Christmas Eve in matching PJs...well, the kids and I did.  But given that it was a 75 degree heat wave we were all sweating and ditched the PJs for summer ones.

Santa was good to Wilson, bringing him his #1 request.  Skylanders Super Chargers. And books, lots of books.  And a Kindle, for more books.

Santa knows Wyatt really well.  This portable field goal showed up on Christmas morning.  He was in awe.  And everything else that arrived was Star Wars related.  So he was one happy camper.

Ella was thrilled with her school/teaching set.  She was so glad Santa knew she wanted one.  And another soft bunny to add to her collection (Duck has been replaced with a bunny).

And we finished off the day lounging around.  It was a Merry Christmas for all!

*the toilet paper roll is how Flynn Flyer (aka the Elf) said goodbye to the kids this year.

A skating we will go

Ella recently joined Girl Scouts. And she had her first skating. Chris was the lucky one to join her that blustery morning. She was a bit shaky at first and then she took off. She loved it! And then asked for lessons. Sadly, it's a temporary rink so no lessons for us. Hopefully we can go back once more before they close for the season.

A day at the museum

Will and I hit the road and headed to the Fernbank Natural History Museum in Atlanta. Will's love for dino's is starting to wane and I've always wanted him to see his favorite giants. We had the best time just the two of us. Will's only wish was that he could spend the night in there and see if everything comes to life like the movie.

Here comes Santa Claus...

Only one kid cared abut seeing Santa. But the other two can be bribed with a quarter and a visit to the nearby gumball machine. That one kid finally spilled their cmas wish list to the jolly guy while we frantically started shopping on Amazon. Thankfully the other two told him exactly what we expected.
Our checklist is starting to get much shorter!

Another birthday.

The kids excitedly celebrated Mimi's birthday. As always, the kids are happy to help Mimi blow out her candles. They just couldn't figure out why she had so few candles.

70 degree Christmas

We ditched a traditional Christmas activity and decided to roast marshmallows on this non-traditional 70 degree night. It was quiet and easy. And every one loved it.

the last of the beach

Finally getting around to sharing the rest of the beach pics.  This seems like a long time ago, but it's just a month later.
No stories, just lots of sandy fun and play time.

tis the season

Ella and I attempted baking our own cinnamon rolls.  She normally makes these with Mimi so she was full of helpful tips for me.  But we were proud of how they turned out.  It’s not Christmas until there are cinnamon rolls filling the air.

Saturday we pulled out the tree and started decorating.  I was surprised that they all wanted to help decorate the the tree this year.  They normally are not interested.  But they looked for all of “their” ornaments and found just the perfect spot on the tree for them.  And then Will read all about each ornaments in our photo book.  It was pretty perfect!

And to make things even better, once the tree was up, our elf finally arrived.  Flynn Flyer made quite an appearance…parachuting in and getting hung up on the gutters.

Our holiday countdown has begun….

Say what? {Wyatt}

Wyatt is never lacking for words. And I'm honestly not sure where he got that from but he talks constantly. (Which reminds me of that time we had him evaluated at almost 2 yrs old for having less than 10 words....)
And now that it's just the two of us most days I'm his target audience. And this kid is funny!

Turkey Feast

Thanksgiving 2015
Just a normal turkey dinner with a side of pop gun practice. And a new addition of the month long Thankful Pumpkin. The kids loved the idea and raced to see who could name their thankful things first. I can't wait to do it again next year.
*the kids dressed themselves and they somehow coordinated. Wy insisted on a tie.

Post Turkey stroll

Two of our tribe like to hike. The other one, not-so-much. But we all went anyway. It was only a mile given the one kid who said they couldn't go on any longer. We're going to have to work on their tolerance I guess.
But it was a great way to spend our post T'giving Saturday.

My fave pic is the top center one. Will stopped the kids to "watch for wildlife" but there was no wildlife this time.

another round of golf

While at the beach we celebrated Poppy’s birthday.  And what better way to spend your birthday than a car show and golfing.  We only joined in on the golfing fun.  And it was the kind with water hazards and “wild animals”.  I think everyone had a great time celebrating his birthday!

Star Wars Zoo Day

Star Wars day at the zoo!

It only took Wyatt two hours to work up the courage to meet the characters. But he was glad when he finally did it.

sandy toes!

Its time for our annual November beach trip.  We had perfect weather, and happy kids.

The first day it was super warm and we all ventured into the water for some boogie boarding.

There was a lot of shell picking, football playing and sand digging.

And as usual, some pretty impressive views.

This top photo shows that we had the beach all to ourselves on the week days.  Those four tiny specs are my tribe.  I stayed inside and took a nap….it was my vacation too.

say what? {wyatt}

"You know, God did a good job controlling the earth today." This was stated very matter of fact by Wyatt during a dinner discussion about a light bulb being out. I think we all stopped and looked at him to make sure we heard correctly and then moved on.  He’s also been known to ask God to turn the wind off if it’s too windy.

field trip time, again

another day, another field trip.  this one was similar to ella’s last one but this time with Mommy.  it was a beautiful day and we had fun playing and visiting the petting zoo.  bonus, we both got to pick our own pumpkins to bring home!

Wyatt goes to the stadium {a first}

We have tried all season to take Wyatt to a football game.  We managed to be busy every Friday night there was a home game down the street.  And then managed to miss several home games at UTC.  FINALLY we found one that would work.  Chris and Wyatt squeezed the game in between the kids games that morning, and trick-or-treating that night.  It was a busy day, and Wyatt was worn out (probably why he only lasted 30 minutes on Halloween night).  But he had the best time!  And was thrilled to see so many real touchdowns in real life.  Hopefully next season he can go to more games!

Halloween! 2015

My two ninjas and Darth hit the streets early Saturday night.  Rain was in the forecast so early seemed better anyway.  Our golf cart shuttled us around from door-to-door as the kids quickly filled up those tiny pumpkins.  About 30 minutes in Wyatt was DONE saying he was too tired to go on.  Wilson didn’t last much longer.  But Ella was still going strong.  We finally quit when all three moaned and groaned when we asked them to go to one more house.  Once home they were happy to sift through their loot.  Will quickly filled up “Mom & Dad’s bowl” with the “disgusting” stuff.  Wyatt contributed a few things. Ella contributed only two things, ha!

They soon ditched their costumes and were content to hand out candy to all the neighbors stopping by.  And somehow all three kids were tucked in bed by 8:30!

Let the festivities begin!

Up first, Wyatt's pumpkin patch party at preschool. Digging for candy in the hay. Decorating pumpkins. Coloring leaves. And Wyatt's fave, horse races. Too bad it was wet outside again this year. (His last here!!!)

camp-out time!

Will recently joined Trail Life (a scouting type program). One event he was most looking forward to was the first camp-out. I'm not sure what he loved the most; the hayride, smashing pumpkins, bee-bee practice or camping with Dad. Bonus points that cousin Jack is also in Trail Life!

He can't wait to go again! Chris isn't as eager to sleep on the ground again any time soon.

Official pics

Sports picture time!

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Same opponents. Same game more or less. But I just love pics of my kids doing what they love. Wy got close to making a touchdown. And we were all pretty excited about that.  one day....

Ella's first field trip!

Ella has been eagerly anticipating her first field trip. Chris went with her and she was thrilled. A really long bus ride was her favorite part. But she loved the corn maze and all the fun things to play on. Her second field trip is in a few weeks.

part 2 of Fall Break, finally

The rest of our time at Stone Mountain was spent working on obstacle courses, taking a train ride, checking out pumpkin displays and watching a 4D movie. We ran out of time to do the miniature golf, thankfully the kids didn’t notice.  We had a great time.  And can’t wait to go back one day!
