corn what?

The kids group gift from Mimi and Poppy was a cornhole set.  Wyatt played with the neighbors one time and has obsessed ever since.  He seems to be a natural.  Ella and Will are really good too.  We’ve had the best time playing together!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve dinner with Mimi and Poppy and presents.  The kids were so excited for the evening.  Their first gifts so they were beyond giddy.

After gifts we headed home, got our Christmas jammies on and set out Santa’s cookies.  Read a few Christmas stories and then it was lights out.  This year we had to explain over and over that Santa would NOT come until everyone was asleep.  Eventually they all caved.

hut, hut

Wyatt’s rules for football: only people wearing visors can play and football players help other football players up. Oh, and no girls allowed.

Every night for weeks on end, the boys “play” closet to bed football.  Wyatt has become obsessed with football.

cmas day

Christmas morning FINALLY arrived.  The kids got up at 6:45 (I’m impressed).  The kids were ready to come downstairs and see if Santa had really stopped by.  On the way downstairs the kids spied Flynn Flyer.  Ella was terribly upset at the thought of Flynn leaving so she wrote him a note begging him to stay.  He left the kids a note and Will read the note as they walked down the hall.  Flynn, on direct orders from management, was asked to stay at our house for a few more days.  Ella was beaming.

On to the den the kids spotted what Santa had left for them.  A Millennium Falcon and car road map for Wyatt.  A new big girl scooter for Ella.  Along with a Doc McStuffins mobile clinic.  And Will got a Snowalker and some Hexbugs.  They played with their Santa gifts for a long time before moving on to unwrapping presents.

The kids had more gifts that they loved… From Wyatt’s football helmet and “costume”.  To Ella’s new doll that looks like her.  And Will’s pile of books and light up snake. They had a fun and magical morning.

And we all had a very quiet afternoon…these three were so busy playing we never heard a word out of them till 4:00!

It was a very Merry Christmas!

taking the train to the North Pole!

Our neighbor, Kendall, invited Will on the Polar Express train ride with her.  Will excitedly said yes.  They visited to the North Pole. Had a visit with Santa and saw dancing elves.  And had some milk and cookies on the way home from the North Pole.  And of course, they were given a bell, just like in the movie.

Will said it was “amazing” but he doesn’t need to go back, haha.  I told him we might want to take Ella and Wyatt next year.  Then he decided he might want to go again next year.

While Will was off at the real North Pole, the little kids were watching the movie Polar Express and having popcorn in the basement.
What a fun holiday night for everyone!

*I totally don’t know these other kids, so I hated to blast their faces across the web so I hearted them out :)

santa, santa, ho, ho, ho

We surprised the kids with a trip to visit the Jolly guy.  Ella was the only one who really wanted to go, but the boys came around when we got there.  Ella asked for an art set.  Will wants Skylanders.  And Wyatt wanted Star War legos.  Let’s hope Santa’s workshop has those toys!

Wyatt was very hesitant to meet the big guy.  But then got all giddy when he walked past him in line.  Looks like he’s finally warming up to him.

funny {elf} business

Just some more elf antics.  Looks like I loved the Super Flynn Flyer so much I included it again on this page…

A side note, Mister Wilson LOVES Flynn.  And “visits” him daily for a chat.  No clue what he says, I haven’t been able to overheard the one-sided conversation yet.

looks good, little full, lotta sap

every year I say I want to take the wreath class at church and then forget.  I finally did it...with a reminder from Renee.  What fun!  It was alot of work.  And alot of sap.  But I’m glad I finally made my own {real} wreath!

I’m not sure I want to go to all that trouble each year though….but it is beautiful.

throwback to Thanksgiving

I’m only a few weeks behind….

Wy and Ella with their Indian feathers.  Ella was sick that day and had to miss her Thanksgiving party.

Wyatt was thankful for Mommy and Daddy, my frogs, my brother and sister, my cousins, my toys, and my soft covers.  {love this}

Before Ella got sick, Ella’s class put turkeys in disguise so they would avoid becoming Thanksgiving dinner.  Ella got very creative and wanted her turkey to be a Knight.  It turned out very cool!

Wilson’s class spent the week talking about the history of Thanksgiving.  And brought home all kinds of turkey art.  This one was my fave.

And of course, the requisite thankful turkey.  He was thankful for his cat, mom, skylanders, ham, toys, and apples.  So thankful I made the list, haha.

flynn antics, again.

Flynn has been busy this week.  Fishing, sawing down trees.  Doubling as a super hero and bringing us a new movie.  He was late one day.  Something about the teleporter again.  Seems like that is a reoccurring theme this year. <ahem>

Flynn Flyer has ARRIVED!

Our elf, Flynn Flyer, has come back from the North Pole.  Apparently he took the wrong portal, and ended up at the Post Office.  He hitched a ride in a box, and brought along some new Christmas books for us.

The kids were so excited to have Flynn back.  Will had started to worry that Flynn had forgotten us this year, since all his friends’ elves were already back from the North Pole.  I guess going down the wrong portal will delay things a few days. We can’t wait to see what kinds of mischief Flynn gets into this year!

a train ride for Wyatt (kind of)

It was time for another Daddy/Wyatt date.  And what place to go than to ride the Incline Railway for the first time.  Wyatt loved riding the “train” up and down the mountain.  He thought it was great fun! And only slightly disappointed that there wasn’t any tunnels.  They had a great afternoon together!

Wilson {first lost tooth}

About 4 weeks ago Will informed me that he had a loose tooth.  I checked and it was a tad bit wiggly.  As you can imagine, he keep me updated on the tooth situation as the weeks went on.  About 2 weeks in I told him it was loose enough to pull.  But he was adamant that was not how it was suppose to come out. We went to the beach, I was so worried he’d loose it out there in the sand.  But nope, he hung on to it.  I fed him apples and other tough foods.  Nothing knocked that sucker out!  I even threatened to go in while he was sleeping and pull it.  It was hanging on by a thread.  Then Wednesday morning he was brushing his teeth before school and excitedly screamed.  He had brushed the tooth right out of there! No tears.  No blood.  Just excitement. That night he put his tooth in his tooth fairy pillow and excitedly waited.  The next morning he was rewarded with 3 gold dollars and a tooth fairy receipt!  He declared it “sooo cool”.  I’m sure this is the first of many tooth fairy visits in our house!

beach days, part 3

Our last day was gray and cold.  We bundled up and walked around for the morning. And the kids wanted a turn with the camera.  This is a pic Will took.

And here’s Ella’s version.

We decided it was time for another first…miniature golf!

Everyone had a great time.  We gave up keeping score by hole #2.  But each kid ended up with a hole in one at some point.  And they thought it was SOOOO fun.  Wyatt, especially, loved it.  He wanted to recreate golf when we went back to the beach later.

2014-11-08 am (37) 2014-11-08 am (39)

We had a great trip, despite all of us being sick.  We even went out to dinner two times!!!  Which is HUGE.  I’m so proud of how everyone (mostly) behaved.  Little victories.

Ella is already asking when we can go back to the beach.  And poor Will asked if we could go to the beach in the summer “like everyone else”.  Maybe one day….for now I enjoy our fall trips.

beach days, part 2

There aren’t many stories to tell of our beach adventure.  Lots of sand, shells, and playing.  Rinse and repeat.

Poppy and Wyatt, whistling together.   Do most 4 year olds whistle?  Wyatt whistles ALL.Day.LONG.  He can whistle tunes, he can whistle for the dog, he has one that is similar to a cat call <ahem>.  Poppy is also a whistler.  So I love this “whistle while you work” picture.

Everyday the excitement was watching schools (?) of manna rays swims by.  They would just race by our feet in the shallowest part of the water.  (After googling….to be safe) We were even able to reach in and pet them.

Will was amused the first time or two, and then quickly became bored.  Instead, he wanted to read all about them in, what else, his beach field guide.  He told us ALL about manna rays from the comfort of his chair.
At least Wyatt and Ella thought it was fun to see them race by.

Ella was the only shell collector this year.  She had a giant collection by the time we went home.  And she has given out a few to her favorite people.  I need to find some shell crafts to do with all of these new-found shells.

beach, day 2

Beach day 2 proved to be the best weather day of the week.  We went out early to collect more shells.  And explore.  These might be some of my favorite beach pics.
