another weekend

Not many new stories, just tons of new pictures.

First up, this weekend baby Jake made a visit!  Jake and Wyatt are just a year apart, so they are not quite to the playing stage yet.  But we know it won’t be long until they are best buds.

Jake took a turn driving the boat, and like Wyatt, he’s a fan. Jake was also at home in the water too.  I’m thinking perhaps his adventurous side is what prompted Wyatt to finally get in the water.

We saw a whole new side to Wyatt this weekend.  He jumped in over, and over, and over.  And then began to swim back to the ladder by himself to do it again.  We were all shocked!  He was in the water ALL day Sunday.  He was so tired he fell asleep on the ride home!  HUGE news for Mister Wyatt.

Wyatt was also very into fishing this weekend.  He didn’t want to fish, just wanted to watch someone else fish.  Chris caught this fish and Wyatt yelled “Daddy, you caught a shark!!!”.  He was so excited.

Ella, as usual, was all about the fishing.  She has mastered casting.  And as long as some one will bait her hook she will fish all day.  But I think her favorite part is picking out the worm.

As usual, Will swam and swam and swam.  He would take a few breaks since the water was chilly, but he rarely stopped moving.

Usually Will falls asleep on the ride home, but all that swimming caught up with him.  He got cold on the boat ride and asked me to cover him up, I knew it was a matter of time before he was out.  He slept all afternoon.  But he proudly stayed awake on the ride home.

No story, I just love these last two pictures.

I can’t believe we only have 2 weekends left till school starts!

we swam, we partied

This week the “twins” had their birthday party with their cousins and family.  We celebrated with (another) pool party.  I had big plans to find a theme that suited them both.  I came close but then got lazy and went with a Thomas and Duck party.  Actually, Ella asked for a duck party.  Since she loves them so, it made sense.  So that left us with a blue and yellow party.  And that’s as far as I went.  Lots of balloons and Thomas and Duck cupcake toppers and we called it a day.

The forecast called for storms and hail (!!!) but by noon it was just a stray shower.  Thankfully, it held off and it was a good night for a pool party.  The kids had a great time.  And I, as usual, took very few pictures.

I will say that Ella grin was SUPERSIZED as everyone sang Happy Birthday to her.  She had been anxiously waiting her day since Wyatt’s birthday earlier in the month.  She is now on the countdown to her birthday celebration at home.

A big thank you to our families who came out to celebrate with us!  The kids loved seeing and playing with everyone.

where’s waldo?

A game of where’s waldo….if I’m peaking in at night, without my glasses, I cannot see Mister Wilson.  Thankfully, I know his habits well enough to know he’s under that pile of dinosaur sheets.

Most nights this is how I find him when making the evening rounds. The sheets up over his head, pulled in tight.  Still scares me every time though.

I always pull back the sheets to find a sweaty Mister Wilson.  It took me awhile to realize this is how he falls asleep when he is afraid a wolf/dinosaur/alligator is going to get him. I can’t tell you how many nights he has come into our room, swinging his frogs yelling that someone is chasing him.  Poor kid really lives out his dreams.

firsts and fun

All summer I have said I was going to brave the pool with all 3 kids by myself.  But I didn’t attempt that till this week.  I won’t be humble, I am PROUD of myself!  I was super intimidated taking all three at once and had put it off as long as possible.  But with only a few weeks till school starts I had to take the plunge.

I never stopped moving the two hours we were there, but the kids had a great time!  Though I did time it wrong. 2 out of 3 fell asleep on the 10 minute ride home and then were grumpy when I woke them up to get out of the car.  Lesson learned, we need to go earlier or later in the day next time.

Next up on our fun week….Ella’s first motion picture!  We finally took advantage of the summer movies for kids.  Ella was excited and seemed to enjoy herself.  I think her favorite part was the popcorn though.  It wasn’t a long movie (Madagascar) but she was asking to leave before it ended. But she hung in there and made it to the end. Will was having the greatest time.  Like his Daddy, he loves a movie at the theater.

Wyatt is not quite ready to sit thru a moving picture, so he went off on his own adventure with Mimi.  The Lionel Collector Convention was in town and had a giant display set up.  Armed with his own step stool, Wyatt had the best time watching the giant display.

Safe to say our kiddos crossed a lot of things off their “Summer Fun Things To Do” list this week!

ducks x2

Mister Wilson requested 2 frogs for his 4th birthday. And Ella remembered that novel idea and decided her turn for 2 ducks was NOW.

We got back up Quacky earlier this year (thanks baby Jake for sharing yours….).  But because Quacky #1 was so well loved Quacky #2 looked drastically different. So whenever we had to swap them out, she obviously knew, #2 was no secret.

She has named the well-loved duck, Happy Duck.  And the duck in pristine condition, Mad Duck.  So here we are, a 2 duck family, and Ella couldn’t be happier.

Blogging has been a bit sparse lately because I am up to my ears in scrapbooking our China trip.  Leaving my blogging creativity tank on empty.  I’m at the half way point of the trip and am starting to lose steam. Hopefully I will have the pages finished sooner than later.

Here’s a few pages looking back….

say what {Wilson}

  • Making small talk to keep myself awake super early one morning I asked Will what his favorite dinosaur was.  His answer: “My favorite dinosaur from the cretaceous period is the TRex but I really like the triceratops best.” (I googled, both are from the cretaceous period….)

  • Will has a huge stack of animal and dinosaur flash cards, he carries them everywhere and apparently they are in a certain order: “I organized my cards by the ones that have teeth and the ones that don’t.  And the ones that have horns.  And then the meat eaters and leaf eaters.”  There is a lot of drama when they get out of order.

  • Holding his fists up to Chris “let’s box, like this, with your freckles.”  He meant knuckles :)
  • I keep calling Will’s super hero figures “dolls” instead of action heroes.  He finally had enough and corrected me. “This is NOT a doll.  It’s an action figure.  They save people.  Dolls don’t!”

  • I love my umbrella.  But I don’t like it to get wet.”
  • After 7 days of rain…raining out all the holiday fun.
W: “Momma, I think July 4th is over.”
    Me: “Why?”
W: “Because it’s not raining anymore.”

Happy Birthday!

Sunday morning Wyatt woke up to a room full of green balloons.  And I could hear over the monitor was “Happy Birthday” over and over.  Wyatt kept saying it to himself.

He was excited to see that it was finally time for his “Thomas party”.  Table cloth and balloon equal a Thomas party :)  Next we celebrated with birthday waffles.

Unknown Person

Wyatt celebrated again in Sunday School by having cupcakes with his friends, before moving up to the 3 year old class!

After church we had a birthday lunch with Mimi and Poppy.  All he cared about were presents.  He talked about it all morning.  So he barely touched his cake or ice cream. He was thrilled with his Cars, Thomas and train gifts.  And finally got a garbage truck of his very own.  (Will has one that he is envious of…..)

(The cake was a big ole FAIL.  I don’t even want to mention it, but it was a Thomas cake…..)

And one more big gift when we got back home…..a big boy bike.

A few spins around the garage, thanks to the rain, and Wyatt was pedaling on his own (with training wheels, of course).

Happy Birthday #3 !!!!

Mister Wyatt {age 3}

Our birthday boy turns 3 today.  I cannot believe the baby is now 3!  He is no longer a baby or toddler, we now have a preschooler.  How is that possible?!

color: black (use to be brown, but he’s switched)
book: (this week) Are You My Mother? or any Thomas book
show/movie: Thomas.  And Tow Mater Tales
toys: trains, cars, balls
animal: Wyatt (I told him he wasn’t an animal, and he said “Yes, I AM an animal!”)
song: Wheels on the Bus
drink: milk (I think he drinks most of the milk around here)
food: cereal, pancakes, hot dogs, crackers, graham crackers and vanilla wafers
nickname: I’ve tried a few nicknames out on him and he always says “No, I’m just Wyatt”.  And he says his name
Favorite thing to say Come play trains with me.  Sit down there.  Don’t touch that one.

Wyatt is our class clown.  Quick to make a funny to get attention.  Loves to laugh, and to have you laugh with him.  He has a quick temper.  And is my worst eater, haha.  He hates the camera on my phone, but is okay with the real one.  But he is quick to tell me “that’s enough” when it’s time to put it up.  Thank goodness he will usually give me a good smile once or twice.

We love this stinker, I cannot imagine our family without him!

And just for fun…..the red chair pics.  Wyatt-004wyatt monthly pics1

alternate July 4th

Part of Wyatt’s (pre) birthday celebration included a Mommy-Daddy date.  With the rainy weather and cancelled July 4th celebrations we decided to seize the holiday and spend a few hours with Wyatt.

We started out with breakfast, planning on stopping for biscuits but Wyatt started pouting and said he wanted his “birthday party”.  He really thought today was his real party.  We quickly changed our plans and decided to go for donuts with sprinkles, close enough to cake for Wyatt.

photo 1

Then we decided to spend some time doing what Wyatt loves.  Checking out cars at the toy store.  He loves going down the car and truck aisle, never asking to buy a thing.

This time Wyatt got extra lucky….Wyatt-sized cars!

photo 2

He was a bit disappointed not to be able to take it for a test drive, but was happy enough opening and closing the doors over and over.

After another spin around the train table, we headed back to the car where Wyatt requested to ride in Will’s car seat.  We were happy to oblige.

photo 3

Next up on our Wyatt fun-day was a trip to the hardware store.  He immediately found the lawn mowers and then found the tires.  This boy loves things that go.

photo 4

And the best thing about the hardware store, is the free popcorn.

Wyatt LOVED his special day, and we loved our one-on-one time with him.

So while this was not our typical July 4th celebration, it was still a pretty good holiday.

Wyatt Wednesday

As Super Wy is closing in on his THIRD birthday, I took a few minutes to go back thru his baby pictures.  I can hardly remember him ever being that tiny!

I never wrote a birth story but did manage to capture the day HERE in bullet form, in case you want to be nostalgic with me.

Here are a few pictures from that first year.  Funny how he doesn’t even look like the Wyatt I know now until the very last picture.
