a lifetime ago

It’s hard to believe it’s been 12 months since we flew across the globe…

….and landed in a faraway country.  And made our way to a bright red Civil Affairs office.  There we met our long awaited daughter, Wei Wei, who was very upset and crying.

I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.  John 14:18

On December 19, 2011 there was one less orphan in this world.  Ella Wei had found her forever family.  Even if she wasn’t so happy about it :)

Despite the fact that we had prepared for this trip for 5 years, it was the longest 2 weeks of our life.  It was exactly like we expected, so much more than we expected, and so much harder.

We met some amazing families on our trip and are thankful to still be friends a year later.  It seems a lifetime ago that we all landed in the Chicago airport, finally home with our newest US citizens.

God has tested us more than we ever thought possible in the last 12 months but we are grateful to walk this path with Ella.
